Public Relations Internship – Bader Rutter & Associates, Brookfield

Summer 2008 Internship Overview
Looking for an internship to gain quality, hands-on public relations experience? At Bader Rutter, you’ll be a member of the state’s largest PR agency and work in a fast-paced environment alongside experienced professionals to execute strategic B2B and B2C public relations for major, national brands.

Intern responsibilities include:
o Material development (media advisories, new releases, newsletter articles, etc.)
o Event coordination
o Media list development and research
o Media coverage monitoring
o Media pitching

Qualifications:
o Strong writing and verbal communication skills
o Excellent organizational skills
o Completion of basic PR work with at least a “B” average
o Upper classman status (Junior or Senior)

Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated interest in PR through previous internships or involvement with PRSSA.

Internship Specifics:
May to August 2008 / approximately 25 to 30 hours per week (negotiable)
Paid position - $10.00 / hour
School credit can be earned with this internship
Will need your own transportation

Organization: Children's Hospital and Health System Foundation
Location: Oakwood Building 10361 Innovation Drive Suite 200 Wauwatosa
Time frame: Mid June – Oct. 3 Hours: Minimum 12/week

About the Event: You will assist the special events staff with organizing the 31st annual Briggs & Al’s Run & Walk for Children’s Hospital. This Milwaukee tradition is an 8K run with a 3 mi and 5 mi family walk. The event is the largest combined run/walk in the state of Wisconsin attracting more than 16,000 participants. Since the event’s inception, the run/walk has raised more than 9.4 million dollars for the kids of Wisconsin.

Job Description: Implement the general public notification plan. You will work closely with the business associations and residential community living along the 8k race course in an effort to communicate the parking restrictions and street closures.

Work closely with manager and volunteer committee to coordinate various groups/bands as route entertainment for the day-of-the-event. Conduct phone solicitations for product/merchandise donations for event, as assigned.

Must display skills in Microsoft Office. Receive valuable experience working in a fun, fast-paced, professional development office as a member of our team!

Skills and Experience Needed:
• An interest in special event fund raising
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Creativity/Enthusiasm
• Organizational skills
• Interpersonal skills - will work with sponsors, volunteers and staff
• Ability to maintain confidentiality

Job Description: Coordinate the Health & Fitness Fair from development of promotional materials to soliciting vendor participation. The Health & Fitness Fair is a component of the event’s Finish Line Celebration on the Summerfest grounds following the run/walk.

Work closely with manager to organize the event’s registration sites. You will work with sponsors, revise training materials, and oversee all the logistics pertaining to on-site participant registration.

Coordinate and send out invitations to the Briggs & Al’s Run VIP party post race. This will also involve tracking responses.

Assist coordinator with supplies preparation for the day of event.

Fiduciary Real Estate Development is currently seeking an Intern to be responsible for supporting both the VP of Property Management and the Director of Sales and Marketing for both corporate and property website/ marketing tasks.

Responsibilities include:
- Research for on-line advertising opportunities that will increase the exposure of the Fiduciary lots, condominiums and apartments.
- Investigate free internet posting sites and ensure FRED featured prominently.
- Analyze pay for click and other options available to help market FRED; make recommendations
- Help with creation of FRED Corporate and individual property websites (Lots/Land, Condominium and Apartment)
- Maintenance of websites as needed (daily, weekly, special projects etc)
- Create website changes through photos and copy to adapt to consumer needs and lifestyles. Understand the demographic market each property targets. Review and proof all changes and ensure that all requested changes have been implemented.
- Gather and review data from websites to generate reports into useful information for management

Requirements:
- Availability for 1+ year commitment
- Highly functional with computers, Microsoft Office, Publisher, and the internet.
- Self starter with the ability to interact well with others internal and external to organization.
- Be available on a consistent basis and adapt well to sudden changes and direction from multiple sources

Hours/Location:
